Michael McCarthy is a teacher of Chinese and Energetic Medicine and has been a practitioner since 1992. He holds a Master’s Degree in Therapeutic Bodywork from the University of Westminster and is a graduate of the Acupuncture Foundation of Ireland where he obtained his Licentiate in Acupuncture and Certificate in Tuina and the School of Chinese Herbal Medicine (UK) where he received his Diploma in Chinese Herbal Medicine.
He also holds clinical certificates in Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine and Qi Gong from the Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Heibei State Qi Gong training centre, Beidaihe, in the PRC. He is Director of the Dublin Centre for Chinese Medicine and is also a Director of the Institute of East West Medical Sciences. He is a Board member of the Irish Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine and the European Traditional Chinese Medicine Association and is Chairman of the Irish Herbal Practitioners Association. He is also a Board member of the National Herbal Council in the Republic of Ireland. He is currently on the faculty of the Irish School of Natural Healing and is also Editor-in-Chief of the Thieme Almanac of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.
